Ali’s aquarium crew
Big personalities. Little water pigs.
A story behind every arrival.
These are my goldfish and the stories of how they became part of my life. Pick a name below, press play, and meet the crew. — Ali 💚
LSK, aka Lumpy Space King
A brick-sized personality
Brennan spotted LSK and just HAD to have him—because apparently, a brick-sized Ranchu is impossible to resist. I knew he was big, but nothing prepared me for just how HUGE he’d be in person!
He’s a little odd-looking, wonderfully lumpy, and absolutely convinced that all the attention—and every bite of food—belongs to him. Always first in line at feeding time, he’s ready to inhale his dinner… and everyone else’s.
He might not have been the fish I would’ve picked, but Brennan loves him. So this big, lumpy food hog is officially a keeper.
Rose
The sweetest surprise
Rose is an Oranda with a very special arrival story. After I mentioned how much I liked her, Brennan secretly bought her for me. When LSK arrived, there she was too. I cried.
I think she’s absolutely beautiful—all that white with a little splash of red near her back and tail. But don’t let her elegant looks fool you: she’s also quite the little pig! Rose is usually front and center at feeding time, making absolutely sure she doesn’t miss a meal.
Blue
Some things are meant to be
Blue is my favorite little guy—and getting him home felt like it was meant to be.
I watched his sale listing for what felt like forever. When I finally got a notification that his price had dropped, I rushed to the website and hit “Buy Now”… only to see he was already sold! I refreshed, and somehow my payment went through. An order confirmation, a shipping notification, and a few days later, Blue arrived at my house in perfect health. I absolutely love him.
I later learned that a checkout mix-up had allowed someone else to purchase him too. I felt awful about the confusion and even found her another fish from the same supplier who looked just like him.
I certainly hadn’t meant to take anyone’s fish, but somehow Blue found his way to me. I guess some things really are meant to be.
The Baby Pond Fish
A pond adventure in the making
I picked up these two on a whim after getting supplies for a 150-gallon outdoor pond. I had big plans… and then life got in the way!
For now, they’ll spend the winter indoors. Come spring, they’ll move into their new outdoor pond home. Their pond adventure is just getting started!
The Two Newest Additions
One planned purchase, one lovely surprise
These two little beauties came from Bo Zhao. The beautiful froghead was my planned purchase—but the adorable little orange one was a complete surprise!
I’m still in awe of such an unexpected and thoughtful gesture. Both are already so special to me, and their arrival is something I won’t forget.
Mr. Halloween
A handsome keeper
Mr. Halloween came from Luminous a few months ago. I’m not entirely sure how he got his name—I think the coloring on his side reminded me of Halloween, and it just stuck!
He’s one of my friendlier water pigs, usually front and center at the glass to make sure I know he’s ready for food. Of course, I’d just fed everyone before filming this video, so with a full belly, he suddenly had much less interest in the camera.
I think he’s absolutely beautiful, and I’ve grown pretty attached to him. This handsome boy is definitely a keeper.
Blue-Jean
Doing things her own way
Blue-Jean came from Next Day Koi as a little Oranda, and over the past year she’s grown so much—and changed colors along the way!
She’s an import from China, and I love her longer body. I brought her home during a buy-one, get-two-half-off sale. The other two eventually found new homes, but Blue-Jean and I had a connection that made her a keeper.
She’s a little more reserved than my other water pigs. She likes to do her own thing, and that’s perfectly fine with me. She doesn’t have to be the most outgoing fish in the tank for me to love her dearly.
Princess
Went in for plants…
My husband gave Princess her name, but that cute little face is what convinced me to bring her home.
Months ago, I went into our local fish store for plants… then I spotted her and couldn’t leave without her.
Came home with Princess. Didn’t buy a single plant.
Have you ever gone into a fish store for one thing and come home with a new fish instead?
Steve
Growing into his own
My husband named Steve after Steve Buscemi, and the name stuck!
I bought him from Eddie’s Fin Farm back in June after spotting his listing. He’s gotten so much bigger since coming home, and his colors have changed a bit too.
Watching him grow and change has been one of my favorite parts of having him.
Thanks for meeting my goldfish crew! 💚
